Mission

Mission trips connect people with what God is up to all around them.  Missions push people to connect with others, communities, and most importantly Christ! Missions give people the opportunity to see and love people in a the radical way the Jesus did.

Appomattox, VA

A tornado struck Appomattox, VA leaving a path of major destruction to homes and businesses. A hardworking team of eight members traveled to Appomattox on October 28-30 to help with repairs. The team worked on a new home being built to replace one that was destroyed. The team painted, installed porch steps, did interior framing, installed siding and worked on the porch roof. Stephanie Hunt, a member of Central UMC, is working as a missionary for the United Methodist Church and is instrumental in directing the work being done by United Methodist teams in the area. Another way Central is outreaching to the communities around us to serve others and share God’s grace.

Red Bird Mission Trip

Our intergenerational team of hard workers traveled to Beverly, Kentucky to the Red Bird Mission to participate with seven other church groups in their work camp. During a week in August, the mission team made all sorts of home repairs and upgrades, some of us learning along the way. But more importantly, we had a chance to have our lives blessed by the wonderful people in that part of Appalachia, as we served along side each other.

Mike’s New Step

The United Methodist Men were blessed to help a church member with new steps to his home. This is just one of the many ways Christ calls us to serve others.
