Amazing Things that Have Been Done, Thanks be to God!

The tendency at General Conference is to get really focused on and caught up with the big things, the major issues, the things that the media will pay attention to. Legislative Committees

So, let me tell you in a nutshell how this General Conference thing works. Individuals, groups, and agencies from all parts of the United Methodist world have submitted petitions to the General Conference (which meets every 4 years). The Work of Translation

General Conference makes it clearly and sometimes painfully evident that we are a global church. Sometimes United Methodists don’t like to acknowledge this. We remain content and sheltered inside the walls of our church. Perhaps we are involved in the District, maybe even the Annual Conference. But a global church? That is hard to wrap our . . . → Read More: The Work of Translation

It has been a wild and crazy few weeks, from Gatlinburg, Tennessee with the youth for Resurrection to an all-day visioning and planning retreat with church leaders at  Camp Alta Mons. When I know I’m leaving town, I seem to cram as . . . → Read More: Leavin’ on a jet plane

Living in the Ordinary Time/Kingdomtide

Friends, we are right in the middle of Ordinary Time. Much like there are seasons of the year (fall, winter, summer, spring) there are seasons in the church (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter).
